I want to thank everyone for staying for the meetings last Sunday. I appreciate your concern and interest in your church. As we deal with our situation and await the special General Conference results we are together in trusting God for our future. We are going through a time when we could see God do some amazing things. So we can fret or we can hope, and I will choose to hope and joyfully continue to sing praises to God. I hope to see you Sunday! We will praise and worship God and talk about our need to push out into the deep. -- Pastor Ken
I hope everyone is staying warm today. The temperature is supposed shoot way up into the teens today. But take heart, there is a warm up on the way starting on Sunday. What a great day to start things off. Start your week off right, come to church this Sunday. We’ll sing some wonderful songs and talk about what It’s like not to want. If you are looking for a meaningful Christmas experience, tomorrow morning we will celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent during worship, tomorrow evening at 7pm the GloryWay Quartet will be at the Mt. Jewett UMC, and Monday evening at 7:00pm we will have a Candle Lighting Service here at Evans. Lots of opportunities to be blessed this Christmas. Pastor Ken
I am still figuring out FaceBook; all my post since Thanksgiving are missing from the site. I don’t know if I am being censored our what? I will check into it further. Anyway, we are already into the 3rd week of Advent, which ids the Sunday of Joy! As we approach Christmas our secular friends are becoming increasingly stressed out as their Christmas activities become more hectic. Not so for the Christian! As we approach Christmas are hearts become increasingly filled with Joy. I hope that all of you are experience divine joy and not worldly stress. We will share our joy this Sunday at the Birthday Party for Jesus. I hope that all of you can make it there. Don’t let the world steal the joy that God has placed in your heart. It is a gift from Him.
I hope everybody is enjoying the Advent season. We started Advent last week with a focus on the Hope that God provides for us in Jesus Christ. It is a Hope that will be fulfilled at the return of Christ. Tomorrow we will learn about a Peace that surpasses understanding. That regardless of our circumstances our peace remains because Jesus gives us a peace that is not of this world. Instead, our peace is rooted in our relationship with our God. Next week we point the spotlight on Joy during the third week of Advent. After church we will celebrate Jesus Birthday with a pot luck and some special things for the kids to do. Pastor Ken
Information on the parade for tomorrow Line up is at 5pm on David’s street Police will be first then floats. It will be a first come first serve in line for floats. Then the Bands and last will be Santa We will do another post for the ending point. We hope to see everyone there!!

We will have Charge Conference this week immediately after church. All members have voting privileges, so I hope that all of will be able to stay and spend some time with our District Superintendent. During church we will celebrate Holy Communion and Consider who is welcome to gather around and share at Jesus’ sacred table. Be joyful! Pastor Ken

Blessing Boxes: Our Blessing Boxes are close to empty and our supplies are very low. There is a basket in our coat area to place donations, or you can stop at one of our Blessing Boxes and place your items in it. Boxes are located at the entrance to the EMUMC, in font of the Lewis Run borough building, and in front of the Catholic Church. Although, any non-perishable items are appreciated, here is a list of suggested items: Hot & Cold Cereal, Ramen Noodles, Dry Soup, Flavored Noodle Mix, any kind of Snack Crackers, Granola/Cereal Bars, Pop Tarts, Mac & Cheese, Hamburger Helper, Pancake Mix, Cake & Cookie Mix, Boxed or Instant Potatoes, Gravy Mixes, Cocoa, Teas, Coffees, Laundry Det., Shampoo. China Outreach Ministries: We have a special Sunday coming up this week. We will host representatives from China Outreach Ministries. They will have a presentation during the Worship service, and we will take up a special offering for them, along with our regular offering. Following the service there will be a pot luck luncheon and a social time. I am looking forward to seeing all of you there!
We had a fantastic weekend with Kyle Winkler. He challenged and inspired all who attended to put on Christ and live the victorious life that God has for us. Harvest Festival Without much time to rest, I am already looking forward to this coming weekend. The Harvest Festival is scheduled for after church. The kids will come in costume and there will be games and treats for them. The adults will bring a dish to share and enjoy all of the festivities. A good time will be had by all!. However, before the festival, during the message, we will talk about what the Church and Frankenstein’s Monster have in common? I can’t wait! See you then! Pastor Ken
I am hoping to see you at church this Sunday. It is World Communion Sunday and we, along with churches around the world, will share Holy Communion; as we attempt to live into the unity that Jesus calls us to, In His name, and under His word, in the power of the Holy Spirit. We will see that the bread and cup are more than just food, but they are the elements that allow us to experience the presence of the living Christ in a profound way. Blessings to all, Pastor Ken
I am looking forward to the Kyle Winkler event on October 20 and 21 here at Evans Memorial UMC (1447 South Ave, Lewis Run, PA 16738). We're kicking off the event with a tailgate party at 5:00pm. Come and have a Hot dog our Hamburger with chips and a beverage before we start at 6:00pm. Kyle will also be with us Sunday morning for Sunday school (9:30am) and Church (10:45am) and again on Sunday evening at 6:30am followed by refreshments and fellowship. We had a wonderful meal after church last Sunday. It was hosted by our Family Ministries committee. All of the food was fantastic. We also dedicated our “Blessing Boxes.” They are now available for people to use. Take what you need, leave what you can. And, we started our Bible study focused on Acts (Mon. evening at the church at 6:30pm and Tuesday morning at the Sayers home at 11:00am). So it has been full week of blessings. This Sunday we will discover that if your brain is waving, God’s Word should be riding that wave. See you then! Pastor Ken
It was good to be back in worship with the people of Evans Memorial this week. We have a meaningful Sunday approaching as well. We will consider how our "living hope" impacts our current life. Following worship we will cap of our VBS mission by dedicating the Blessing Boxes at their locations. Immediately after church we will start at the Evans Memorial location, then go down to the borough building and finish off at OMPH (the Catholic church). Then we will return to E.M. hoping to indulge in some pulled pork.
It's good to be back, my vacation was fantastic! Did some site seeing as we rode motorcycle through the mountains of Tennessee, Kentucky, N.C., and Virginia. It was a fitting extension of the previous week with 2 outstanding worship services. Our church picnic worship was nothing short of awesome, while the next Sunday we recognized a very successful VBS program and prepared to send the children off to a new school year with a blessing. This week we will consider the affects that our faith in Christ has on our lives as the Holy Spirit recreates us in God's image. Blessings, Pastor Ken
